Location

Our holiday home is set amongst truly breathtaking scenery, in the very heart of the Perigord area. Our French house is less than a ten minute drive to the river Dordogne and nearest village, Castelnaud, which is home to Castelnaud castle, a 12th century fortress. It is in Castelnaud that a bakery, butcher and grocery store can be found.

The main town of Sarlat, a town of true architectural gems, is only 25 minutes by car. There is also a colourful twice weekly french market as well as plenty of opportunities for shopping and places to taste the local cuisine. The stunning towns of Beynac and La Roque Gageac, built into the cliffs overlooking the river Dordogne and named “one of the most beautiful villages in France ", are only 15 minutes away.

The medieval town of Domme is 13.5 km away. Built in the 13th century it stands high above a bend in the Dordogne river, and offers the most breathtaking of views. There are several restaurants in Domme, a weekly market and caves which contain some wonderful stalagmites and stalactites that can be accessed from the market square.

The river Dordogne, with it's fabulous scenery, offers activities such as canoeing and swimming.  Walking and cycling are also popular pastimes. Golf is available at Vitrac, 16 kms away.

With so many prehistoric caves, medieval villages, vineyards and châteaux to visit you can explore a different place everyday, or simply sit back and unwind at home and enjoy the tranquillity of the surrounding Dordogne countryside.
